  • can anyone help with setting up a pc60 please?

    Hello…..

Bought a pc 60 last week and im struggling to get it set up.

Im using xpsp2, Corel Draw 12, RDGPC60 drivers and a parallel to usb convertor.

Ive installed the driver no problem and the printer shows up in windows as installed fine but that was with out even connecting up the pc 60.

When i actually connect it up it doesnt seem to make any difference whatsoever. Test print fails to print and i dont think the printer is installed correctly.

All my dip switches are set to the bottom position and the parallel to usb converter instructed me to use printer port LP2.

Ive downloaded a manual for it but it only has instructions on how to set up using windows 3.1 or windows 95.

Ive read loads of posts on here but not seen the same problem. By all accounts these are quite an easy machine to set up.

I also tried to install the printer on an older computer using a parallel cable but had the same result.

When i performed a self test it cut out ok but had white bands missing on the print. I read a post about this a few days ago but need to get this other problem sorted out first.

My only other concern is that i cant seem to find the ‘cut only’ option in cd12 although i have read that if i set everything to magenta and just press print, it should cut anyway.

Sorry for the long ramble, any help appreciated

    thanks

    Terry

    hi
cant remember which one but 1 dip switch is for parallel or serial.

the cut command is in the driver not corel ,
when you press print does any light come on the pc60

after loading the vinyl there should be cart lights on and roll light,
    none should be flashing.
when data is sent the busy light should start flashing and start working.

never tried a usb converter but it does sound like the data is not being sent

Cheers Chris, I’m half way there…

There was a port setting "virtual usb" which i didn’t notice. A soon as i selected it the printer fired into life.

Problems now are it prints really bad full of white gaps and i cant get it to cut. Ive set it to magenta but cant find the cut only option.

sorry to be a pain but I’m new new new to this 🙂

the first thing it does before printing is clean the head on the head wipe to the left of the carriage if this is not clean guess the rest.

the cut command is in the driver advanced output settings xp driver

    chose solid line
this will cut any vector object with a hairline (any colour) or line thickness of less than .01 mm.

    Cheers Chris.

Managed to get it to cut last night. Found the cut only setting in the output options.

Spent the rest of the night trying to get it to print. Changed all the carts and tried to align the head…too much messing for me.

Wonder if i should have bought a brand new desktop plotter as i wont be using it for printing anyway.

Seen a brand new Roland servo plotter for around a grand….

    ops!
as a cutter only the pc60 is very slow but is capable of very fine cutting slightly more so than the newer quality machines so could have its uses

    Hi All

    Yep I know this one.

We purchased a PC60 and had nothing but problems, just one nightmare. One minute it worked the it did not. The PC60 for us was head banging.

So what was the problem ………………. Windows XP don’t ask me why because i just don’t know. There is no real logic to it.

Get an old machine with Windows 95 on it and I’m sure this will take the pain away.

This is what we did and have not had any problems since.

As i said there is no logic to the cure but it works.

    All the best

most of those problems were possibly the parallel settings settings in the bios. just a thought
