  • can anyone help with my 6 year old roland pnc-1200 please?

I’ve been running a pnc-1200 for 6 or 7 years now, I lost my manual and I remember it had something about exactly what it is doing now. when I do my test cut with the little cross, the corners aren’t square any more, I don’t know how else to say it, but it’s getting sloppy. Any body with the pnc-1200 manual or pnc-1200 experience, please help.

    Hi Dave,

The most likely reason that you are having this problem is that the blade offset is set incorrectly. The correct blade offset for original Roland vinyl blades is 0.250 mm. However, if you are using other blades the rule is:

If the corners are rounded – increase the blade offset.

If the corners are ‘pinched out’ – decrease the blade offset.

So how do set the blade offset ?

On the display where you set the pen force (gf) the item on the bottom left hand corner is the blade offset. Use the left and right arrow keys to put the flashing cursor over this item, and use the up and down arrow keys to increase or decrease the value. After setting the value press ‘Enter’ to confirm.

On another note, if the blade offset is set to zero, the word ‘Pen’ is displayed in the top right hand corner. If it is any value other than zero, the word cut is displayed in the top right hand corner.

    Hope this helps,

    Mike

Ok, I tried .2mm, .225mm, .25mm, .275, & .3mm. As far as I can tell, all the test cuts identical. Does this mean I am way off? Does this mean I’m due for a new plotter? Or should I try to get a little more radical than just .025mm off the oridginal setting by Roland? A little more advice would be greatly appreciated

no your machine is not knackered…
if not for the reasons above. i would expect it is the actual mounting of the blade holder. this has happend to me in the past, we have had 3 roland machines. the part that holds the blade had actualy come a little loose. this causing the rounded corners etc. make sure all is tight. then check the actual part that holds/grips the blade is tight too.. i bet its this!
this is normaly found on machines that have been use alot or, have been churning out work for many months. 😉

wow, ok, I changed over from using a open blade to an enclosed adjustable depth blade holder, the blade had broken off, but was still cutting, just not where it was supposto be. Thanks again for all your help guys. BTW, I upgraded to the proII EX and I love it.
