  • can anyone help with mimaki registration marks?

    Hi there,

I wonder if anyone can help me….

Trying to save vinyl I changed my registration mark setting from 10mm to 5mm and now the laser will only read one row to cut.

When it gets to the second row the laser goes to read the marks from the first row, the console displays ‘COPY SKIP’ on the entire row and comes up ‘MARK DETECT ERROR’.

I’ve tried the different settings in the reg mark detection i.e. first time read 4,3,2 and 1 – same in the continue detection.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks

    Christina

Have you changed the size of the registry marks only in illustrator, or have you changed the settings on the plotter too?

I have only changed them in illustrator, how would I do them on the plotter??

    Thanks

print some larger marks out, cut them up and stick over existing marks… i think there is a too small mark issue

If you want to salvage a job, just extend the 5mm marks with a black pen, although the minaki should read 5mm without a problem

Thanks for the input guys. I think it may be case of running the job again, there is so many marks, I couldn’t possibly go round each with a pen.

Ah well you live and learn, eh?!

just out of interest, how many marks are you using, and what size are the decals? I only put reg marks every metre or so for small labels at 1340 wide.

There are 1250 small labels. I have tried to set up with reg marks every 760mm (the width of the plotter) in the past and the laser has failed to read every time. So each label has its own set of marks.
