    Hi everyone,

Is there anybody out there who could help me with a problem that I am having with my Roland PNC-950 Cutter, when I try to cut small lettering some of the letters are not cut completely, sometimes I am having to use a fine blade to make a clean cut around the letter, it seems alright on larger text & graphics, it is a real nightmare to cut garment transfer sheets such as the one’s I buy from Magitouch (GB). I have tried a new blade from Graphytype but still not cutting right. I wondered if it could be something perhaps worn on the cutter?
I have used this machine for several years and have not had this problem before.
Does anybody know of an engineer who would come out and look at it in the Nottinghamshire area?

flush the knife holder bearings out with wd40 as you say its not been used for a long time.
this will give the fault you discribed.

Thanks for the prompt reply Chris,

I will try what you have suggested, however, the machine is used regularly every week so it’s not that it has been standing idle for any great length of time… I wondered if it was something which might need replacing?

Can you slow the cutting speed down? My Roland CX24 had the same problem a while ago when cutting reflective, and this was the solution. Good luck!

Roland will send their engineer out pretty promptly. It is less expensive to take out their extended warranty for a year than to pay for engineer & parts. Might be worth giving them a ring?

What condition is the cutting strip in? if this is worn it can give the results you mention, and they are only a few £’s to replace yourself.

Had a similar problem with our cj70… fitted new cutting strip..no improvement.. Changed the blade carrier with our cadet and it was perfect… I would suggest a ew blade carrier..

Had the same problem, even though the plotter was in regular use. Sprayed WD40 down the blade holder, and as Chris says, this worked a treat. No problems since.

    Cheers,
    Jamie.

Somewhere in the setup program is an adjustment for a small overcut to allow for the "castor camber" on the blade.

I think you’ll find it is the blade carrier as Ian suggested, had the exact same issues with a graphtec,

The fact that nothing has been altered, software or hardware settings, the blade carrier is the next step. Other than that, one of the stepper motors may be on the way out.

Thet are a very reliable machine tho, the blade carrier would be the best and easiest bet.
