  • can anyone help please with PC600 Cart Codes?

    Hello All
As many of you may see I am a newbie and today is a double first in that it is the first time i have printed on anything other than paper (Vinyl) and in fact although i have read hundreds of posts, this is my first post here.

I am not really in the sign or print trade, we are electronic interface designers heavily into software programming, and control electronics, our specialty is connecting to vehicle electronics
Having been let down badly by our usual sticker supplier (small logos, equipment info badges, warranty seals etc, all usually one color) i was rescued deadline wise on that job by a good friend in the same industry as me who had recently purchased a PC600. Recognizing the usefulness of having such a printer cutter machine at my own disposal, i set out on a quest which all started here. So my first thanks goes to everyone contributing to past debate here on current values and what equipment is best for what job. It goes to show how what you write here often helps many others for years to come.

Based on what i read and learned i eventually bought a PC600 from Flea Bay for just 750 with about 30 renown cartridges & jig. Its in good nick, i know its usefulness , weaknesses, how to clean and maintain it and i have even ordered up some spares from Roland all based on advice read right here.

Amazingly, having started as a complete novice, I have now been through all the usual difficulties, got it all installed, picking up cartridges, printing and cutting where it should be but let me say right now though i would not have stood a chance without the support, information, help and friendliness of the members of the this forum.

So now i have expressed my gratitude, I do however still have a small problem that i need some help with, and i think here is probably the only place i might get it.
my newly acquired cartridge collection is a complete and utter mess in respect of each cartridges bar codes matching installed ribbon colors. I have several spot colors which i don’t even have the proper bar code for and some stickers with a number that i don’t know what color is. I know (sorry read up ) about the black cartridge with a spot color in, and it is not that.

I am a methodical guy and would like to sort it all out properly, so
could anyone here possibly provide me with a definitive list of bar code / numbers to colors or even supply me with sets of replacement bar code stickers so i can sort it all out, or point me to where i could get them i would be most appreciative.

    mr black box
it is fairly common practice to put spot colours in to cmyk carts and the drawing altered to suit. it can save a lot of hassle, but i appreciate rather difficult to follow on from.
my pc60 is still used for the very small stuff.
    and enjoy your new toy

If you give me a email address I’ll send you a file for making your own bar code labels. I use black vinyl and a silver ribbon.

    Thanks all.
Sorry about the use of the generic company name as a user name, Its a reflection that one of my technicians here might who I work with closely may post on my behalf.
I am Colin, i am a Brit that moved out to set up my own company in Cyprus about 10 years ago, during the great Gatso invasion period.
Just got fed up with having to pay so much tax and not agreeing with seeing what it got spent on.

Peter, Print ones site is off line being updated apparently, otherwise i would have checked there, but thanks for that. The irony was that they shipped me a shipment of Carts / refills less than 5 mins earlier than your reply. About the same time I was asking Have to wait for next order, hopefully their site will be up so i can have a proper gander.

Phill, i thought i had searched properly but guess you cant see it all, although i only saw a few at your link. I was hoping for a full on definitive list. when i get one sorted i will post it for future reference for all.

Chris, Yea i see a few as being done like that but others don’t follow.
EG, i have 3 matching Green ribbons in carts bearing bar codes of
    A) 35R Cyan
    B) 32R no name on that
    C) 37R no name on that either

I have of course deduced that the 32 = black process, but have doubts that 37R is Green_Resin. If it is then what do i call the 2 other darker green carts i have with no bar codes on at all, Dark_Green_Resin 😮
Just trying to get more info so i can get my head round it and organize this shambles i have. using Black for spot colors is a good trick but if you have enough carts with the right bar codes, there is no reason not to do it properly. And you can mix up any 6 spot colors very easily.

Ron, thanks for the offer, most appreciated. i have both black vinyl and a new shiny silver ribbon on its way to me, you can use Info@blackbox-solutions.com

I am also on the lookout to beg borrow or buy a technical / service manual for the PC-600. As someone with a lot of knowledge and understanding of digital electronics, (i know self praise is know praise) i expect to end up getting very familiar with the workings of this machine at a low level and hopefully one day i will be able to help others with the more technically mystifying problems.

Already had to strip cart holding assembly and fix a cart pick up issue. Not the usual L-R knocked out of sync alignment issue, but a not grabbing and holding cart properly one.

Seems my UKSB gleaned expectations of owing something that is just great for small labels and stuff so long as you are willing to hold your breath and watch it at all times was spot on :lol1:
