    Hi all,
First post to this great forum!
I just got a Stika stx8 (yea I know its a toy!), but I got it for a great price and am only using it for small jobs for our local car club.
I have been toying(sic) around with it the past few hours using Avery products and the dr.stika software. I have found the cutting of curves (eg the number 8) is not that sharp/smooth. Is this just the perils of a relatively cheap cutter?, or is it worth getting a new blade?
    Any other suggestions?
I would have thought the acutal tracking and cutting mechanism would be similar to higher priced Rolands. Am I right in thinking it is a ‘cheapie’ because of it’s low cutting force and limited cutting width?(ie. it should still be able to produce a decent shape curved picture, etc)
    Thanks

    hi
I don’t know about the software or the machine you are using, but some trutype fonts do not scale very well. when you look at them closely they quite often have “straight lines” making up a curve. Try a different font and see if thats any better. Also most plotters can be set to draft quality, normal, and fine.

    Thanks guys,
I’ve just downloaded some demo cutting software so will investigate if its a s/ware limitation rather than the cutter.
I’ll also give it a good clean which may help
