  • can anyone help me source summa plotter blades please?

    Hi Guys

I am looking to keep a spare blade and was wondering where is the best place to get them from.

Also I have read threads about angles of blades, is there a specific blade I need to ask for or should I keep using the same angle as per my current blade and how do I find out what it is.

    I have a Summa D60SE

Any help or leads will be great

    Thanks in advance

Edward Mathius does replacement blades for the Summa plus he also does is own called Smart Knives. They require no setting other than force set in the machines menu by the key pad. Just tell them the machine you have & you’ll get the right ones.

    Warren,

Different plotters/cutters use different angled blades for different materials. For our Mimaki ones we use:

37 degree for 2-4 Mil. vinyl (cutting normal lettering / graphics)
50 degree for 2-4 Mil. vinyl (cutting small lettering)
56 degree for 4-12+ Mil. w/ .75 mm offset (cutting paint masks, stencils, reflectives)

If im not mistaken Summa’s have 36 degree and 60 degree blades available at most suppliers / aftermarket blade manufacturers.

I buy mine from Victory. About £15 each – and they usually have a 2 for 1 offer on. So stock up & buy a few!

Blade holders on the other hand – about £60 a pop. Lasted 3 years though before the bearing fell apart!

one point to remember is Edward Mathius supplies a load of resellers of blades which means you could end up with the same item but different packaging. I think he also supplies some cuttermanufacturers as well.
