Having just got my first cutter outta the box (Graphtec 3000-60) and plugged it into the ‘puter imagine my disappointment when i find it dont work.
The cutter works on demo mode but when i try to send anything from corel or sign lab all hat happens is the fans on the cutter run for 1-2 seconds.
    Can anyone out there help??

Go into the menu on the plotter and set it to hpgl or gpgl. (Whichever one it is on change it to the other). I had the same problem and this fixed it.

Edit: By the way, cutting direct from Coreldraw as a printer can give iffy results on curves (poor curve quality), this is normal. Use signlab!

Big G has a good point. The plotter understands 2 languages, so you may just be sending the wrong language. Signlab has hpgl and gpgl drivers but i would recommend setting the plotter for HPGL and using the graphtec hpgl drivers.

Also, is it a port issue?. What port are you plotting to. USB/serial/parrallel?
If USB , you may need to install the USB driver off of the CD that came with the plotter but the latest Signlab can talk to it direct via USB
