Can anyone help me out on pricing for a sign?
Posted by Daniel Taylor on 6 October 2015 at 22:40Sorry if this is not the right catagory, I’ve had a request to make a sign of 34×45 inches – Dibond – full colour print – artwork already supplied
I was thinking £80 is that about right .. I’ve fitted all my life. Cheers guys any help would be appreciated?

Thanks Brent, it’s hard coming up with figures when you’ve not dealt with quoting before .. He wanted that sign and 6 x full colour vinyl stickers for his van at 200x150mm and I’ve quoted 120 🙂

Pricing can be tricky when you have little or nothing to go on, really the best way to sort out your pricing is to do a bit of market research & find out what other local companies are charging & then set your prices around those. If you know what the most expensive & cheapest companies in your area charge it is reasonably easy to set yourself where you want to be on that ladder. When I started out I used a combination of asking other sign companies directly myself, getting friends & family to get quotes for me & asking people what they had paid for their signs if I saw something new. The majority of people I spoke to were pretty open & honest about it which enabled me to build up a pretty good picture of what was going on & who was charging what. Yes I got the occasional "F" off but I was expecting a lot more of then than I actually got :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:

We have found this one of the hardest things to do (Pricing),when we started up.
All the local companies are franchises and seem to have really high prices, when you look on the interweb everyones prices seem pretty low,so like you say we just went for a middle figure which for us as seemed to work. -
Pricing is quite simple really.
Add up what everything costs, imagine how long it will take, add your time, add a bit for mistakes, and thats your price.
If you find anyone charging less than you, they may win this job but they wont be around long enough to win the next one.
Customers who order on price alone are not the customers you want.Simon.
