hi JEM
Please don’t think me rude here but as a sort of rule on this forum, sign makers would rather see your own efforts at creating something that they can elaborate on. just asking for an idea is sorta frowned upon by others. an initial attempt is normally asked for the “graphic help and advice forum”😀

Hi jem
take a quick look at http://www.goldclipart.com/members/crestabout.htm
Its got a load of different styles & shapes of crest. Some are a bit traditional, but it might give you a few ideas for a design for your lorries.
There aren’t any vectors, but you could copy to your picture file as jpeg and then trace in your sign software.
They’ve got some great gold clipart shapes that could be worth remembering for future design work too.
Cheers,
Cheryl 😀

quote Jillbeans:Here’s one with an oval format, their name would go into the middle.
I used VectorArt by Gary Godby, and Arthur Vanson’s Chesham Sans.
You can’t get much more traditional than that!
Love…..JillI know I am being a bit cheeky here Jill, friend, buddy, pal……. I ay be way off beam here, and forgive me if I am, but isn’t sending this VectorArt graphic akin to sharing copyright files… like car outlines that Brian Hayes always brings to our attention? Just an observation you understand, not a critical comment, but it raises a question thats all (at least in my mind).
Cheers

I thought about that too, Shane,
but when I bought my VectorArt CD it was almost $200.
Now they sell for $5, since Roland went to the Mega-Art collection.
And I did pay for it, so I figgered it was OK to share.
I even mentioned the 2 designers.
(I know them personally 😉 )
Just trying to help a fellow sign chick.
If others feel it’s wrong I’ll edit my post & delete it.
😳
Sorry!

Love…..JillJill, I have no opinion on it in truth. In retrospect I would probably done the same thing.
But then I have been guilty of sending car outlines from CD’s I have purchased of cars that we do not have here in OZ.
I am not one to comment then, but I have huge respect for your continual help and support of everyone in this community, and I would be very suprised if anyone objects to this. As you say, you have given credit to the designers. I was actually given the VectorArt cd as a freebie some time ago, so not having purchased it, makes me even more confused. Especially since I did not know it was so expensive in the first place.
Cheers Jill, and thanks again for your support of these boards. I didn’t mean to offend.

Sorry to have opened a can of worms here 😳 But the job is now in progress, thanks to everyone for their help, I will post the finished logo when I have a minute and as I did it from various bits and ideas from everyones suggestions anyone can have it and use it 😀 ( not that it looks that wonderful, as im only a lowly signmaker and not a graphic designer ) only joking!

The finished crest had to have a heavy black shadow so that it would stand out on various different coloured backgrounds, one of them being yellow.
