    Hi,

I’ve had a few problems over the last few weeks and it’s starting to drive me crazy, not to mention slowing my work down!! Can anyone offer any advice or assistance to the following problems?

    1) When cutting anything the cutter would overcut the start and end join slightly. I changed the overcut option from 0.1mm to 0mm, this solved this problem but now any cutting strokes down (when the vinyl is spooling towards the front of the cutter) are lighter than strokes in other directions. The cut isn’t all the way through the vinyl so I can’t weed anything.

    2) I used to use SignTools 3 (Corel Add-on) to cut from, a few weeks ago I got a few jobs sent back as the dimensions were incorrect. I checked the files on Corel Draw and they were as they should be, it turns out the cutter wasn’t cutting jobs to scale. I tried to caluibrate the cutter but everytime I do this the machine starts to draw the vinyl through and cutting the lines to calibrate to, it cuts the length ways line first then when cutting the width line the cutting head flys accross and slams against the side of the machine and stops. I need to turn-off and back on before the machine will respond again.

I did contact Summa who informed me of another way to recalibrate the cutter using the SummaCut software. I tried this but, unlike their instructions, you can’t edit the length and width measurements you’re supposed to calibrate to. I run the calibration with the standard setting (800mm x 500mm) but everytime I run it the length cut seems to change slightly (-)

    3) To get around the calibration problem I have started exporting the Corel Draw files to WinCut 2.1 where the width’s cut are correct but the lengths are 102% of the length, which I can adjust for before sending to the cutter. I have noticed in Summa Cutter Control the emulation has changed from HP/GL to DM/PL but I can’t seem to cut from WinCut using HP/GL.

All drivers are up to date but obviously something is not right with the cutter, or with my PC. I’d prefer not to have to re-install my machine but I fear the problem may be more software than hardware except the problem I get when running the calibration from the cutter.

Does anyone have any suggestions of things I could try as this is starting to cause problems and slowing down production (and therefore ££) 🙁

    I’m off to cry 😥

    Hi
Check earlier posts this as arose before i think it was a knife problem, do you run the summa software on your computer or alter from the lcd panels. It is far better controling from computer and you can see exactly what is on & off. But i would check knife rotation is ok first

    Gareth,

I don’t know if this will help nor not, but i think it’s the sofware your using.
In flexisign you have the option to poll the page size, if you don’t do this before every cut you can get the problem your experiencing where the cutting head slams against the side of the cutter. More common when you used a small of then change back to full withd and visa versa.

Does the cutter have a control pannel, i’m sure it has, try altering the settings on the control panel as opposed to the software.
