use the contour tool and then break apart, then remove the centre line 🙂

Just a pointer, any cut line, must be a hairline, NOT a thick line,
to check what will be cut, view the drawing in wireframe, WYSIWYG.

saves a lot of wasted vinyl….

    step one
draw the spiral to the desired shape and size
    sterp two
select the outline tool and then the first flyout, the outline pen
    step three
    specify 5mm as the thickness
    step four
    do as hugh says
    convert to outline
    stepfive
switch to wire frame, and delete the original line from the centre.you should be left with a spiral ready to cut

    different way, same result

    1) Draw the spiral to size and shape required

    2) Select spiral and put a 2.5mm contour on it

    3) Use ‘break apart’

    4) remove original centre line
