  • can anyone advise me why im not getting a clean cut?

Posted by John Morgan on 20 May 2008 at 08:14

Hello All, thanks to everyone who got back to me a few months ago re a particular problem. I now have another problem !!!??
Im using a SummaCut D60 with Signtools3/coreldraw12 package, for some time Ive not been having a clean cut, so its snagging on the vinyl every couple of millimetres making clean weeding difficult sometimes. Ive tried new blades and adjusted pressures but still the problems exist ! Any ideas/help ? Thanks John

Have you checked the nylon cutting strip with a finger nail for any ridges or damage?

John is your off set, set correctly, as this can affecting cutting as well.

Could try a squirt of DW40 into the blade holder. Sometimes a bit of grit
gets in there & stops the blade rotating correctly.

You can nylon strips form most suppliers. They are adhesive backed and take around 5-10 minutes to replace as they sometimes leave glue depending how long they have been on the machine, so may require a clean so it lies flush along the length of the machine. Also remember to test you blade pressure when replacing the nylon strip.

    In a word, yes.

Order a couple at a time to be more cost effective.

If your machine has ever run out of vinyl or cut right through then it’s likely to be damaged.

Anyone know how to get the strip out of a mutoh sc 750?

It says lever it out with a screwdriver but it is very solidly stuck down.

You will have to prise it up from the very end first, possibly with a strong penknife blade tip pushed into it and then lever it up.
