  • Can anyone advise in finding a power circuit board?

    Posted by Marie-renee on 5 July 2007 at 07:44

    Dear all,

Our Mutoh SC650 broke down the other day and I have found that it is the power board (circuit board) that needs replacing. As we are a new start business we only have one cutter!! Unfortunately we have loads of work lined up but have no cutter!!
Can anyone tell us where we could find a power circuit board for the Mutoh SC650? We have tried to contact Mutoh but they are not a quick response!

    Thanks for your help

You could try velmex.co.uk or I think it’s artsystems maybe someone can confirm.

But at a guess I would say you will pay way over what a PSU is actually worth.

Are you positive it’s the power supply???

If you are competent work from the socket to prove what is working.
Try another appliance in the socket, then elimante the power cable then the mains in as far as the PSU. Then I would disconnect the PSU from the other circuit boards and check if there are any outputs from the PSU with a multi meter. Black is generally ground (-ve) the others could be +5V -%V 12V etc.

PLEASE BE AWARE SOME PSU HAVE VERY HIGH VOLTAGES OVER 240V IF YOU NOT SURE GET AN EXPERT.

If you can Isolate that it’s the PSU I would try these guys!

Speak to Kay he’s a great guy…..sorted a Roland PSU with leaky off spec diodes for me – inc. shipping back under £60. Roland wanted £300 squid plus the dreaded etc.

Let me know how you go? I would be interested as to what a new PSU would cost.

    Good luck

    Tim.

Just so you know I have just checked the price and availability of the part needed from Art Systems.

RRP £242 plus vat would take around 15 days to order in, or pay an extra £25 to get it over here within three days.

    hello

the sc650 have 2 types of board, you need to make sure you get the correct one, the older machines have 2 boards, the newer machines one,
we have some we are breaking for parts, which might have the parts you need, but these machines dont go wrong very often, so i would make sure it needs the parts before laying out money you might not need.

Thanks everyone for being so helpful (thanks for doing the research too Nigel)……

We will be checking out electronicrepairs.org and someone is coming to check the power meter readings so we can confirm the problem.

If possible Alan when we source the problem I would like to see if you have the part we need.

    Thanks

    Hi Alan,

Is it possible to get a price for the power board, also what other bits do you have there (I think it may be good to stock up on a few integral items just in case!!)

    Thanks
