Anyone can supply them, doesn’t even need to be a sign making company but obviously there is legislation which needs to be followed concerning the manufacture of them with regards to style & colour.

Like Stuart says as long as they are the right size, layout & colour then there isn’t a problem. They keep changing them so make sure you are using the up to date pictograms.

Also bear in mind that since January 2013 the new ISO EN 7010 as below

EN 7010 (European Normative) Safety Sign Legislation

The adoption of ISO 7010 has meant major design changes for safety signs in recent years.

In 2003, ISO 7010 was created with an intention to use common, internationally recognised symbols on safety signs. Until now, this has been a ‘best practice recommendation’ and so the UK has continued to abide by our own standard, BS5499. From January 2013 this is set to change as ISO 7010 could become a European Normative – EN 7010. This means it will be written into European Law that the UK and other member states will have to adopt.

Health and Safety guidance recommends that the two different types of signage, BS 5499 and EN 7010 should not be mixed in the workplace, so you may want to change your current signage to comply. When looking to purchase new signage, ensure they meet with the new EN 7010 standards.
