hi everyone, i cant find anything by searching, but i know theres a post somewhere on here about someone using an iron to heat textile vinyl onto a tshirt. Is it true? does it work?

I dont have a tshirt press anymore i have no room at my new house, but ive kept all my textile vinyl and i want to do my friend a supprise tshirt as a present.

    Thanks everyone 🙂

yes it can… i have done it loads of times. not something i would do if selling to a customer as it is easy to ruin a top or spoil the print. however… when our old press broke… i used an iron to do our own work overalls, body warmers etc

    thanks thats great!!

do you just hold it on and get it as hot as you dare? Should i just judge it by eye?
Anything in between the iron and the clothes?

Its just for a present, just a bit of fun 🙂

Thanks again for your fast reply!!

Pop down to PC word and buy some do it yourself iron on tranfers,

they wont last long, but ok for a bit of fun.

Not all heat press material will work with an iron,

Hi peter, good idea but ive decided to go for a nice hoodie for them now instead i bought it from a company called AWD its quite good quality, and i really like the look of the decent textile film.

The stuff i have is Dorotape, ill try it with a sample first. How long do you reckon to keep the iron on for? 10 seconds?

    Thanks

James I cant vouch for dorotapes product being suitable to use with an iron, I would recommend using a teflon sheet though,
time and temp, use Doros recommendations.

Last time we tried with an iron, the garment got ruined, and the material stuck to the iron!

    Good luck.
