    Hi

I need some help with a cutter I have just bought. Its only a small creation mc270 and I can’t get it to work. I have followed all the instructions that come with it and it just does not respond. It came with pltdraw, I import a file I created in Corel which is in the right format click on Cut and nothing happens. It also came with ‘easysend’ and that does not work either. The cutter turns on ok and the green light is on.

    Does anybody have any ideas.

    Hi,

Is the cutter USB or serial? could be the software baud rate is different to the cutters, this would cause it not to cut.

    Cheers

Its a USB one, I think I have set it all correct I followed the instructions. You have to muck around with com ports and that might be where my problem is.

The guy I had it off says it works with Signcut software using the driver for the PC630 but I have tried that and when you press cut it does nothing and then when you try and close it down it comes up with page not responding, its does that too with pltdraw.

hello Matt, as regarding setting up the com port issue, when I set my p cut up using a usb adaptor, not only did I have to create a COM PORT 1 I also found that to get the cutter to work I had to slow down the data transfer speed, when going through the com port settings / cutter settings ( advanced settings I think ) there were two slider controls I just set them both 1 notch slower and all worked O k, I also seem to have to make sure I use the same usb port each time I plug the cutter in to my laptop. maybe this might help. ps if its the same as my p cut 630 the baud rate should be set at 9600.

Matt, I too am new to all this and was searching the net regarding plt draw when I saw your post
I recently purchased the same cutter and had the same problem
I loaded the drivers for the cutter manually into windows/system32 folder and then rebooted with the plotter connected. Windows recognised the plotter and then found the necessary drivers.
Once all the usb drivers are installed, you then go to device manager right click and disable com port 1 (mine said that it was in use and things connected to it would be affected) but i carried on…no problems
Then go to the usb virtual serial port and right click properties and then the advanced button…set that to com 1 and ok.
I also had grief with easysend (as in it wouldn’t work). I found pltdraw better but being new to this am struggling slowing down the speed of cut for a better finish. But at least it works now 😀
    Hope this helps you out

    Paul
