  • Can a Epson R1800 Use other inks?

    Hello

I have a R1800 using the "regular" water based inks.
Every time I need to print vinyl, I use the coated vinyl, that I’m only able to purchase in white or transparent.

But sometimes, I need to print in chrome, or colored vinyl.

    Is it possible?

Can the Epson use other inks to allow me to print in that material?
To be honest I don’t know much about inks, and they’re features.

Can someone put me in the right path?

Regards, and thanks in advance for your help and time.

    Pedro

Anything you print on needs to be coated so it’s receptive to the ink so you can only use the printer to print to media that is coated.
Not sure what you mean by other inks, if you are talking about eco solvent and full solvert inks these will completely destroy the printer in a very short space of time. Other problems you would have would be with ICC profiles which don’t exist so you would have to produce your own and if you know nothing about it then that’s not really a good idea.
