Corel Draw has bar coding in its program, although I have never used it myself.

i guess the first question is which type of bar code? A lot of people just toss around bar code over here (my clients) when they really don’t understand that there are zillions of different types of bar codes for a lot of different applications. Is this going to be a bar code used internally at your clients site or is this a bar code which is to be used by your clients customers? Is this something for the retail market? etc. Your client should be able to tell you exactly which bar code they require if it is for something like internal product management (they would have documentation with their inventory software) suggesting that it’s something like “Code 3 of 9” or somesuch (not saying that it’s 3 of 9).

If you’re talking about bar codes that are going to products to be resold you are probably talking EAN in Europe or UPC in North America. In this case there would first be the process of your client having a registration number provided to them which would identiy them… they would be able to choose a second part of the code to identify their product. This stuff might be tricker because major bar code families like EAN and UPC have certain requirements for printed accuracy and your plotter might not be able to hit those standards.

Sounds like you should first find out what type of code your client is looking for and then do some tests that they can scan.

    Good luck.
