  • Cadet Plus 540 colour problem, help please?

    Good morning all,
    Our Roland cadet Plus 540 does not print grey / Silver colours it now prints these colours as dark brown all other colours are fine its just anything with light grey only started this yesterday,has anyone got any idea what this could be,the print heads are new and we have ink in it.

    First thing I would check is to see if there is any cross contamination of inks. Do a print test to check that CMY and K are all printing pure.

    Secondly – ensure all inks are in the correct ports. (i.e make sure you haven’t inadvertently switched any of the cartridges around – easily done and easily overlooked)

    If it’s none of these I would call in an engineer to investigate.

    I think the problem is now solved,switched from RGB to CMYK and it was fine.

    Good call Jill.

    I would have suggested something profile related. Silver and grey are very hard for a printer to produce as they will try and make it up from CMYK inks. I often find that disabling the output CMYK profile is enough to make it use just the colours it requires.
