    Hi all,

Before I call back B & P and make myself look a complete idiot, can some one please verify that the following is the correct sequence for printing – laminating -reloading – and cutting.

Material – clear 5 yr vinyl
    Backed with solid colour
    Using Troop v.6

    1. Check box for printing crop marks and disable process cut path.

    2. Print graphic. ( also prints the nice four black circles with the rectangle at the front right)

    3. Remove and back up with solid colour.

4 Reload media with rectangle over the blade protection strip.

    5. Move cutting carriage over the right hand side crop mark and press base point button.

    6. In properties of printer model (cut only) ensure auto alignment box is checked.

    7. Send cutpath

All that seems to happen is the cutter starts plotting from the base set point position with no alignment taking place.

Can anyone see if I am missing something? I have read the manual a million times now and maybe cannot see the wood for the trees!!

    Thanks

    Adie

From what I can see your procedure is correct. The machine should begin by sensing each of the four crop marks before beginning to cut. It’s as if the auto alignment check box is unchecked (step 6) – but as you say this is checked so that cannot be the problem (unless you have forgotten to save that configuration).

I would phone B&P if I were you.

Hmm, that’s what I thought! Is the optical eye something that needs cleaning? no mention of it in the maintenance procedures.

Thanks for the reply Phil, at least it confirms that I am not going mad! 😮

    H adrian
might just be the way i am reading this

    3. Remove and back up with solid colour.

is the solid colour covering the reg marks as it reads from the top

    Hi Derek

No, the solid cover is inside the reg marks. They are well clear of any obscuring material.

i dont know troop but i tell my roland to auto align from the plotter key board then send the cut path.

or the plotter has been told to ignore the software commands, as mine is

    Thanks Chris,

I will have a look at that tonight. I did have a flick through the menus but could not find anything about auto alignment.

Re-visiting this as something has cropped up that I really need this for!

Spoke to B&P but never actually got a call from someone who was in the know as promised, obviously they are no more 🙁

Still got the same problem but there has been a weird development 😕

I had a play yet again with the procedure the other day and had some success! Still a bit baffled though as I am not sure what I did.

Sent my print via troop, with the registration marks box checked but forgot to disable the cut path box. After printing, it re-wound and then detected the four reg marks then cut!

Once this had been done, I laminated and put back in the printer. Found the cutpath in the queue and sent again. Unit detected marks and cut perfect!

Can anyone suggest why I cant do it if I don’t cut before lamination! It is driving me nuts

    👿

    Cheers

Just a thought, should you not process cut path but disable the cutter. This shouls send all information as to the reg marks and cut path.
Then after laminating when you set up as cut only, the reg mark info should also be in the cut file.

Hmm, I’ll have a look in the rip. Thought I had tried that but thinking back it actually printed the cut path then. Perhaps I need to dig deeper into the rip.

    Cheers

Not sure why but when I send a job from Corel it does not print the cut path, but a job sent from Illustrator prints the cut path. I resolved that by making a cut path colour that is almost invisible.
When you disable the cutter you will be prompted to save changes to the profile, just give it a tag so that you can recognise it as the one you use when over laminating.
