  • C86 & sublimation paper problem ?

Posted by sconie on 5 June 2005 at 17:39

I have managed to get my c86 printer and a bulk ink system set up for sublimation, everything prints ok apart from the problem with the little paper guide wheels that run over the paper, when I use the sublimation paper the ink is fairly wet on top of the shiny paper and these little wheels drag the ink right through the print ruining it !!.

Does anyone have any tips to avoid this or do I have to use a paper that absorbs the ink faster ?

    Thanks

The paper you are using sounds like a high release paper. These papers are slow to dry causing the wheels to make track marks. I use Epson Photo Quality paper (About £9.95 per 100 sheets) for printing onto hard goods. For more general use, True Pix is good but more expensive and only comes in US sizes (Letter/Legal etc.)

I would try the True Pix. The Epson Paper whilst ideal for hard goods is not quite so good on soft items as it does not release all the ink.
