  • Buying ACM cut to size, who do you order from?

Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 27 September 2017 at 13:14

It has been a long while since I purchased from Europoint. I am finding that local suppliers are giving longer and longer lead times now. Who do you use for sheets cut to size?

Europoint & Pyramid – Both supply next day cut to size for us. As both are local when need’s must we can sometimes collect same day.

What lead times are you being quoted?

3-5 days, local to me (about 15 miles) but I can only collect if small enough to fit in my car.

I used to use Amari alot but getting it cut was taking longer and longer. I now use Pure Plastics who so far have been great. Not sure if they are just regional or national.

If Warren still has has his Steeltrak for sale I would thoroughly recommend it. It’s the same machine I use for cutting composite. Clean and dust free so you can cut any size you need (up to 2.1M length) without having to buy it in ready cut

I agree with Phill, if you’ve the space and can afford a steeltrak it’s definitely the way to go. Saves having to rely on others for cutting. Also they have what’s known as a "v groove" tool which is great for folding the edges of acm to 90 degrees. If you intend to do that make sure the material is suitable for that purpose. We couldn’t understand why ours kept snapping when we folded it, it was because the core is a different material if you intend to bend it. Lesson learned!
