    Hello

I recently "inherited" a ColorCamm PC 600 printer. I have read trough this and other forums about the good and not so good sides of this printer, but I decided to try to restore its functionality. In is in a good condition , where I have replaced the cutting and separating knifes but the printing has problem. There are 2 lines across the printout, and I can see scratches on t he leading edge of the head. I cleaned it but I assume the dead is damaged. The Damper Platen has some tape residues, which makes the surface uneven. So here are my 3 questions:

    1. What are the options (Suppliers) for buying a new Head – I have the service manual, and I think I can swap it myself.

    2. Should I and how can I clean the Platen.

Thank you very much in advance for any recommendations and tips.

Looking at about 450.00 to 550.00 for a new head give or take a bit, setting up is what takes the time with these machines

    all the best

Sorry can’t help with this machine but if you introduce yourself & tell people a little about yourself in the Say Hello section you will find that more people are likely to help you out when you ask questions.

I would question what use a PC600 is these days? The running costs are so high and the machines reliability is questionable. Nowadays it is far more cost effective to use a trade service to buy prints in.

I have tried to revive a few old tools, and if you can, they oftern dissapoint.

Best try a younger model. Peforms much better.

    😳 😳 😳

On a serious note, our P600 was in perfect order and we couldn`t get rid of it quick enough.

What sort of work are you looking to do with it?? Like Phill says the cost of running them is high & for everyday signwork you would be better off with a solvent machine or even buying in from a trade supplier. There is still a market for them though as they will do certain types of work that can’t be done on a solvent machine. Chris Wool keeps his specifically for these sorts of job.

Thank you very much for all of your replys. I understand that the PC-600 is a bad choice in comparison to the newer models and in respect of cost of operation. I am looking to occasionally use it in different projects I do thus not high volume, and predominantly small size labels. The device presents also some sentimental value , thus I am keen to keep it and possibly restore its functionalities – definetly I am not going to invest significantly for a new device as this is not a business, but more a hobby in respect of this device.

Thus back to the question – do you have any suggestions where I could get a new head at a good price ?

Tahnk you very much in advance

Try doing a search on the forum as it’s been asked before. Digiprint supplies did sell them at one point but don’t know if they still do.

Martin, thank you. I have searched the forum before I raised my question, but posts on PC-600 are 2-3 years old.

    Any other suggestions ?
