Last minute dot com job as the customer wanted to give another sign company a last chance, no reply so the job came to me. The yacht was kitted out for a demo sail and the name put on. By the time they came back in the vinyl (all of the silver and a little of the blue) had come away.

Anyhow I got the job, matched the font and proceeded with part 1, remove the old vinyl, clean the hull and re-apply, no probs with the majority of the blue going down as 1 piece. Applied the chrome wet without any probs, bit safer than trying to line up and apply 2m of text!

Part 2!!!! Not my first choice, but what the customer wants, the customer gets no matter how much contrary advice you give. 2.2m x .8m transom on my yacht, I want it chromed!!! Bit of a nightmare, tried one piece, however the slight ( very slight) curve caused some minor creasing and I then had to remove and apply in pieces…..

Is that chrome going to last in marine conditions?

Lettering yes, back end is a different question and he is aware. Fortunately the transom of this yacht is out of the water (corby 33).

Looks very nice Graeme, whay chrome did you use, Im looking for a nice 5 year one that is actually 5 year exterior and not estimated to last 5 years by a manufacturer that has no idea if it will or not.
I know Grafityp do one, I may give that a go

That’s the one I used. Goes on very nicely, however due to the high mirror finish it does highlight the smallest of surface imperfections. Only comes in 610 and 1220mm widths. If you want an off cut Ill send you a piece down or just give Nigel a shout. I think he does forum searches for "Grafityp" as he just seems to pop up like the shop keeper in Mr Ben….. :lol1: :lol1:

I gave Nigel a shout months ago for a couple of samples of a t shirt vinyl that never arrived, not gonna hold my breath on that one.
Ill give that one a go then I have a hairdressers to do in black and chrome and it should do the trick nicely#

Nigel if you are the shop keeper from Mr Ben, could you whisk me back in time through the changing room door to a time where I asked you for that sample of the T shirt flex with a mildly sticky backing, (like xpres superflex)
NOT the PS or PU one and make it appear "as if by magic"

    Thanks.
