  • Board to hang from scaffolding

I’ve been asked to do a board for a builder 6′ x 3′ that he can hang from his scaffolding. I’ve often seen banners used for this but what would be the best material for a ridged board and how should it be edged if at all. And what kind of fixings to hangin it off the scaffolding???

He definalty dosn’t want a banner, and wants something more solid than corex.

I’d be a bit worried about using dibond if it came doen it could slice off body parts. So I’m thinking Foamex – but would it be too britle if it took a knock. how about 5mm foamex mounted on plywood or that chipboard type stuff they board up windows with???

any help on this one would be good. thanks

You could use di-bond / alloy if you construct like a traffic sign & use rails & clips to secure it to the poles.

PVC / Foamex up scaffold is a bad idea – a kick or big gust on a cold, windy day and it’ll take off in a million bits….

…brings to mind the possibility to decapitate an apprentice (or other non-essential personell 😉 ) with an 8×4 of alloy whilst taking it out of a van on a windy day as being quite real…..oh, how we laughed!! 😕

Agree with Dave, alu panel with channel on the rear and use clips … secure it to the scaffold poles the same way you would a road sign. Ashby is one company I can think of that would sell you everything you need to do the job …. not the cheapest option but if your customer wants a rigid board and secure fixings its a good option ……. cant think of anyone else at the mo who does them, gone blank 😕

    😀
