board cutter
Hi all, there was a board cutter at the sign sign earlier this year that was good on cost and if I remember correctly folded away, ring any bells with anyone? Sorry for being so vague

went for the evolution which fits to the bench, also can fit in van as its 1.6m

Anyone tried the one from JML, little cross between a circular saw and jig saw?….. uses a small fine circular blade.
Seen this advertised in some shop, looks as if you could use it like knife with a straight edge. They come about £90
Thought it would be a handy wee tool to have for quick jobs!! 🙂

The Exakt saw you are on about is for cutting laminate flooring. It is a great tool and cuts dibond with ease but like every saw, it spews out loads of debris although it does come with an extraction hose

Yeah thats the one.
Do you have one and is it worth the money.
Was thinking of adding it to my xmas list but wasn’t sure if it was sturdy enough for doing Dibond.
Also, will it cut foam and if so to what depth?

I have had an Exactkut for several years, only gets used for cutting composite that wont fit through the Excalibur, but is great for doing the job. As Chris said, it creates loads of debris, I always use it outside, or there would be bits of plastic everywhere. (Clean the boards off too, swarf clings to them!)

Which blade would be best for cutting Dibond and where would you get replacements?

my problem with my Exakt saw is following the straight edge, the dust collector works well but gets in the way.
so it don’t get used much, shame as its a nice tool we just can’t get the best out of it.have a practice with it now and again but no confidence on 4ft + cuts, i am sure the tool is fine just numpty operators.

The guy doing the video on you-tube used a hose connected with a clip and attached to a hoover, the hose was taped to the Elec. cord to keep neat.
Does the saw come with a collector bag??

hose to hover works well no mess but it gets in the way no matter what you do with it. bag with out suck would be no good.

That’s why we use the saw outside, rarely use the hose as it gets in the way.
Chris, I agree it is difficult to get a good long straight cut, this is due to having to keep the pressure on (for the depth) whilst changing position .So yes, good, small saw, still has it’s drawbacks though.
Nothings perfect I guess.
