Hi there, I was wondering if any body know the legality of blue reflective vinyl on commercial vehicles , or is it only for the emergency services?

only ask in a customer is looking for blue chevrons,
many years ago when i was a young boy racer i got a fine for having a small blue light on my car.

don’t want to get anyone fined for impersonation a police car and all that, from reflecting blue light??

    Cheers Barry

i do blue / yellow battenburg and chev’s for a recovery customer of mine, as far as I am aware, he is only allowed to use blue because he has the local police contract for the area, ie, emergency accident recovery at the police’s request, therefore working on behalf of them. only a few of his vehicles use blue.

that’s not a definitive answer, just how i perceive it!

I’ve had reflective blue shading on the front & sides of my Transit for over 8 years now with no bother, only compliments.

No problem unless you try to make it look like a police vehicle, so blue lettering for Co name OK but adding big blocks or stripes in blue would be a no no.

    cheers guys,

thought I would ask, just in case. drove out of work tonight and a electrician’s van went by with the logo in blue reflective vinyl. my customer only wants chevrons side and back.

    Thanks Barry
