• Blade Issue?!

    Hi Guys!

I have a GCC Jaguar 101s Plotter, i noticed a few days ago the plotter wasnt cutting the vinyl correctly and was more or less impossible to weed, i assumed its the blade as i have had this blade for well over 2 years and it has been working fine.

I stuck in a brand new blade, left it to the correct position as it says in the manual (only the tip of the blade should be showing from the bottom of the holder) which is how i had the previous blade set, however when i go to print, the blade does not even touch the vinyl therefore does not score anything onto the vinyl.

For it to work i’ve had to have the blade sticking out by about 5mm for it to actually cut.

P.s I have left the force settings the same as they were previously as i assume that a brand new blade should not need increased force?

This has me extremely confused! 🙁

You should need much less pressure with the new blade. Are you sure you have fitted it correctly ? If it does not reach then you must have fitted it wrong or its the wrong type of blade.

Im not sure if anyones familiar with this same plotter but im using the standard vinyl from Grafityp with a force of 115 which is what it was set to with the previous old blade with it sticking out only in the slightest from the holder.

When i ordered the new blade i was told i’d need a 45 degree blade which i was sent out.. I’m sure i’ve set it the same way it was before 😕

Sounds like you don’t have the blade holder sitting correctly, when you open the clasp that the blade holder sits in you will notice a groove on the inside of the clasp, on the blade holder you will have about halfway along a wider thin part, bit like a metal washer, this sits inside the groove.

Thanks Nigel i opened up the clasp fully and realised there is a groove for the holder!

Like an idiot i had been placing the holder ‘washer’ part above the clasp bit lol

Thanks for helping getting this issue resolved 😀
