Blue back is the right type of paper to use along with paste as the paste needs to absorb through the paper to fix it to the tin panel behind. Do not use UV printing under any circs, you should be okay with JV3 but try to not saturate the print as this will stop the paste absorbing through properly. If you get up close to a billboard you will see it is printed in very low res, normally 150dpi so there is not a huge amount being laid by the main print houses. In terms of tiling, yes you need to add a bleed to each panel and billboards are normally fitted left to right.

many thanks for the reply, are there any special tools/equipment we’ll need, someone has suggested using a paint roller to apply the paste, we’re tackling the first one on Tuesday next week so we’ll let you know how we get one

Generally bill posters wet roll the paper prior to posting this sops wrinkles etc id try a test first to see if it makes the inks run

To be honest I only know of printing for billboards because we do quite a bit of specialist work on billboards but when we have to post a billboard we always use a local posting contractor to take care of it – it should only cost you £40-£60 max to get a 48-sht posted. I think the contractors tend to wet roll the paper in advance (this is because the paper expands an inch or two when absorbing the paste) which is something quite important as it might look good when you post it but 10 mins later..
