  • Best way to fit frosted vinyl non hinge method?

    Hi all.

I’m off to fit a big slab of frosted vinyl into a recessed window today & was wondering if there’s a secret way I’m missing out on? Usually for window graphics & signs, you can use the hinge method, but as this is a complete blank out & the frame is at 90 degrees to the window, I have nothing to hinge onto.

How do you guys get round it, or do you still struggle? I want to fit it dry, but as it’s fairly large (10′ x 3′) I’m tempted to fit wet.

    Cheers,

    Gwaredd.

    Hi

    Do it wet:-

Cut the vinyl to the window size leaving about 5mm all round

Spray the window with whatever app fluid you use.

Put the vinyl onto the window the wrong way round – the wet window holding it in place.

Peel off the backing leaving the vinyl on the window sticky side facing you.

    Spray it with app fluid

Turn around and place on the window and glide into final position.

    Squeegee out

    Or dry:-

Cut vinyl to desired window size, again leave a small margin all round

Peel back about 2cm of backing paper along one edge and cut off with scissors

Carefully stick in position on window

Proceed to apply as if you were doing the second half of a centre hinge application from the stuck edge.

    Cheers
    Macky

    Then proceed to
