Hi I am new to forum and cutters. What i want to do is cut stencils for airbrush tattoos, and some vehicle graphic stencils both bike and car.I did originally ask someone doing graphics if he could supply and he got quite excited as he thought what I wanted was his waste but I think he realised stencil were not quite a simple as that. I am looking at a Creation pcut 630 as its cheap and not gonna be used 24/7.Is there anyone on forum with stencil cutting expertise who could perhaps offer some advice. On what would be best software at reasonable cost and any tips. Thanks in advance.Mike

any sign software will do stencil cut font or stencil vinyl.
there is a paint mask, cheap vinyl available for stencil work. you simply weed out the letters/graphics as opposed leaving them when the job has been cut.

if purchasing the Creation pcut 630. do so from CE approved UK distributors. not the ones offered on ebay by chinese. there is a pile of complaints about the chinese sold ones… try alan flynn at flynn signs in the UK he does them.

    Thanks
I have spent 3 hours reading relevant posts on forum.Dont get out enough!Have decided either ASA or signwizard for cutter but have not seen prices from Mr Flynn.
Have bought from China in past ,personal audio stuff some of which had probs so learned a valuable lesson.
Maybe what I should be asking is which of the cheap software is easy to use and will do the job. Also will need to find out how to turn images designed for graphics into a stencil. And the best material to use? Sorry to ask so much. But me mum said if you dont ask you’ll never know.

sign wizard and alan flynn are reliable sources, both been in the game a while now.

low costing software, you pay for what you get at the end of the day.
i use signlab, have done for years. comes in modules starts about £300 upto around £1800 "i think" Brian hays at impact will help you with any questions you would need on that.

Corel is a popular one… Corel X3 is about £350 again i am guessing.
you can buy this direct from corels site corel.co.uk

VMP Vinyl master pro… comes in around same price as corel. nigel at grafytyp for that one.

Flexisign, like signlab.. its another top end software. available from graptec GB… like signlab it comes in modules.

there are other low priced software but like i said, you pay for what you get… sign-co, sign-cut are budget level ones… in fact there is loads out there… 😕 :lol1:

converting images to cut files for stencils?
most the the software above can do this… you need to digitise/trace the image which gives you a "vector" trace of the file which can be sent to the plotter/cutter to cut your stencil

I bought from signwizard with no hassle. They can supply a program called signblazer which I have had running for more than a year now to get me started in the sign business. It isn’t a bad program really and has been capable of everything I’ve needed it for so far. I am going to upgrade to signlab at some stage though, but to get you started it should be just fine.
