  • Best printer and laminator to buy on a limited budget

I’m looking for a 54 inch or larger printer and laminator for £10000 or less. I know it’s a lot to ask for that sort of money but there must be some decent second user machines out there. I keep looking at Rolands as I had an SP300 which I loved. Is there any other good second user machines? I will be using it for various things such as vinyl, banners and occasionally clothing vinyl. Not sure if I should save a bit more and buy a new Roland RF640 but I wouldn’t be able to afford a laminator to go with it. 😕

You could get a second hand JV3 for around £3-4K, maybe less, or a JV33 for around
£6-7K, which would leave a bit for a laminator.

    Hi Jamie,

I have no experience what so ever with mimaki printers, I really don’t like the look of them which I know sounds silly but it puts me off them for some reason, I think Roland printers look far better for some reason. As I said though I have no experience with these what so ever so I’m open to suggestions.

Have you tried speaking to PrintMax Ewan, they may have ex-demo machines or refurbished etc? State you are looking for a combined laminator deal and they may well be able to help you out mate. They now also do Mimaki printers along side the Roland range.

I still have our first Roland printer over 12 years down the line and its still banging out prints daily.

Ha, they do look a bit odd. Apparently, the colour is something to do with Feng Shui.
Anyway, they are the equal to Roland in every respect, and are often considered to be
superior due to build quality and print quality, but it’s your money….. 🙂

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Robert I am in negotiation with Printmax about a possible package deal which Cat offered me yesterday. It seemed like an amazing deal until I realised it was plus vat. I told her I had £10,000 to spend but she must have thought I meant £10,000 plus vat.

    Cheers

Print Max have offered me a second user Roland Sp540i and a brand new Vivid Easymount laminator for just under £10,000, is this a good price?
