Warren, think this comes down to personal preference, I would make a list of the style of fonts you want and then go and look through somewhere like letterheads and choose for yourself.

That way if you choose fonts that you know you like yourself you are more likely to use them.

Martin I usually do that but as you know there are millions of fonts to try look through, a few suggestions from some experienced sign makers/writers just helps me find a few that are nice for our line of work and a good place to start.

I plan to start buying some every now and again and these will at least help me get started and while looking at those I’m sure I’ll stumble across others I like.

It’s was also to see the different fonts people prefer as I’m sure not everybody will have the same selection, thought if a few replied it would give me a dozen or so to look at for now.

one of the letterhead fonts I like at the moment is speedstyle, anther of my likes at the moment is LYDAN this is a sign lab font though.

Just out of interest but along the same lines so not a complete hijack of Warrens post. Is there any software out there that might convert a Signlab or Flixisign font so it can be used in another program.

I have a program called Inspire Pro which is pre Flexisign and that came with a lot of fonts installed for signmaking but I can only use them with Inspire Pro.

Be nice to be able to use some of them with other software considering Inspire won’t run on anything post windows 98SE

Martin, don’t think there is a programme that can do it automatically but if you want to put some time in and Inspire can export as AI or eps any version of Corel can import that and you can export as TT or type 1. You need to do it letter by letter but as I say if you want to put the time in it will do it. Not as sophisticated or expensive as a bespoke font programme but will do the job.
