  • Best Airless Vinyl Application Method for Clear Acrylic?

Posted by Praveen Jayawardene on 16 May 2010 at 13:37

    Hello Guys,

    Hope All Is Well.

I want to make up some acrylic signs. The plan was to use 10mm clear acrylic and apply black avery 700 vinyl to the rear and then put the vinyl cut logo on the front.Trying to achieve a nice clear finish without the grey air markings.

    Question :
    1) What is the best method to apply vinyl to acrylic to avoid air bubbles? and the grey markings that can be seen through the acrylic on the face side after a dry application? Sizes 800x400mm ,800x600mm, 1mx1m

    2) What is the best method to use to avoid the above ? Idon’t want to use sold black acrylic either.

    Appreciate your feedback,

    Cheers,
    PJ

Apply graphic to rear – mask sides, spray lightly with (suitable) black paint…coat in black vinyl…will be perfect.

Hi! As David says but I’d apply the logo to the rear/back of the panel.
Lightly spray or roller over the rear with paint and back up with the black vinyl.

This will give a bubble free solid black background with the logo protected behind the acrylic. It also gives a very ‘classy’ look to the signage.
