      BBC TV – New logo, what do you think?

      Posted by Leslie Anderson on 4 September 2021 at 20:21

      I have just sat reading this in disbelief. The BBC decided to change their logo at the cost of tens of thousands of pounds and this is the best it can come up with?
      They will not disclose the actual amount paid because they are also coming under fire for crippling pensioners for TV licence fees, but think nothing of spending so much money on this.

      Is it just me? how can they honestly look at the new logo and think it has been worthwhile?

      Snouts in the trough I would think. Whoever authorised the project probably got a new car as a thank you from the design agency on the quiet, or possibly was on the board of directors at the design outfit. Had a client years ago whose logo was a name typed in Friz Quadrata light. I was called in to change all of the branding in his dealership after the he had been sold the idea of a new logo which was ‘more dynamic & better reflected the values of the company’ . 5 grand later, they clicked on Friz Quadrata bold. The cheque had unfortunately cleared by the time I’d shown him how long it actually took to do.

      @Kevin-Mahoney1

      Got to love the felt-tip fairies mate.🤣

      Leslie, i think the old and new logos reflect on the BBC perfectly…

      I read that it was actually cheaper for them to change from Gill sans, for which apparently they pay an eternal license fee for every example, to their own in house typeface, which they own outright.

      So it seens this is a money SAVING exercise.
      I didnt know that fonts worked this way, but you live and learn.

      🤔

      I am sure the BBC will have their own in-house artwork department that could have altered this in five minutes. This is silly and beyond a joke!
