    Hi all,

I am printing a banner measuring 7000mm x 1000mm which will be installed across a pedestrianized street.

My question is at this size is it advisable to cut semicircles to let the wind through and if so at what intervals / how many. I am not to keen on making these holes, would I get away with placing various eyelets throughout the banner?

Perhaps at this size it doesn’t even need any holes?

    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Never done it but coincidentally I was looking at a similar problem for a 15m x 1m banner yesterday. I decided after various internet info that it would only provide a 5% wind reduction and would be more liable to tearing etc.

    Good luck

Done a few of these some years ago now.

Just remembering using a good quality block out banner as double sided.
A descent welded hem and large quality eyelets, the fixing wire was fed in and out of the eyelets across the length of the banner top and bottom.
scaffold pocket hems could be used I guess and feed wire through this and hems would need to be welded or well stitched.

Had no problems, I guess it comes to how exposed to the elements it is, the ones I did were for the high street. But crucial that the fixing wire is fed all the way across the banner not just to each corner.

The council fitted ours so If fitting yours they may have guidelines on what to use

I’d only use mesh for such an application.

    Andy,
Can you use mesh back to back? how are they attached to one another?
    Thanks…

We’re lucky enough to be able to HF weld back to back.
