  • Banner welds or tape? Banner material for print?

Having gone into the digi print game with my Versacamm, i can create some cracking full colour banner work.
I’ve been using the plastic clips and bungees which work great but l get asked for hems and eyelets a lot too.
For those with a welder hemming the banner is no problem but, for those of us who don’t do too many banners, the investment in a welder is a bit steep.
Which brings me on to my 1st question. What tapes are out there for doing the job of hemming?
I used one from grafityp the other day for the first time, l’ll be keeping my eye on it to see how it performs and will post in the future with results.
My second question, what banner materials are people getting the best print results with?
I used the dixonjet 550 from hexis, it’s pretty good, a smooth surface to print on and the banner is a good solid white, not an off-white so the print comes out looking crisp.

for quick banners we use a decent double sided tape. its low costing as far as i know and we buy it by the box load. “for the record” this is NOT banner hemming tape. i just find it very high bonding and use it for speed somtimes.
i havent used the grafityp stuff.. look forward to hearing how it copes.
i think there is a few banner tapes on the go.. not sure if they ARE banner tapes or just sold as an alternative.
at the moment we have used 3 types of banner material. due to time on my part, i havent had proper chance to chase up on all the ones ive been enqyiring about but, the best as far as thickness is concerened has been B&P but its “very” OVER priced in my opinion. i have a roll from europa, it was very close in comparison of thickness but more than half the cost! first impressions on dealling with them was very professional, but i felt the way they price and invoice is a little confusing, (thats maybe my fault though.. not sure )
the one i have in at the moment is by europoint display. at a glance its the same as europa and is yet again cheaper. think i saved about £30 a roll buying from europoint. (please do not quote me on this as i do not know if my UKSG doscount applies to the banner material, so wont be granted to joe bloggs buying)

both the europa and europoint banner materials have NOT been printed onto yet. i will be doing some backdrops with it this week so ill keep you posted. having said that.. i have heard that most decent banner materials are pretty good for printing onto as they seem to be far more pourus than the likes of vinyl.

oops.. alomost fogot i have a banner welding machine and will be doing a product test on it shortly 😉
