• Backlit Sign

OK so I am making a small box sign that will have some lights in it. This is a temporary sign that i plan on using on my front lawn for Chirstmas time (I do one of those big computer driven light shows) and I want a light up sign to tell the people looking at the show which FM Frequency to tune in to in order to listen to the music.

If I create this box and place some lighting into it how would I accomplish the front if it. Is there a specific vinyl to use that I can cut out my text to show up with the back light? Also which sort of substrate would be best on the front?

Excuse the amateur talk here but I have never created one of these all my lettering has been strictly vehicles as i do not do any signage for customers other than small non lit up signs

you would need to jigsaw the letters out of the face then use clear acrylic covered in translusant vinyl which you would either double tape or tensol into place.

Use opaque acrylic as it helps diffuse the light, then apply coloured translucent vinyl, dont layer it as it will progressively darken or not give you the colour you want when lit.
