Hiya a freind of mine is using autocad to design some decals for a model he is producing. He wants to use my machine to print and cut them out, has anyone used autocad to export as a .eps and then imported the file into versaworks ? We can get it to export the bits that we want but i dont know how to get a spot colour colour created in autocad. We created a colour called CutContour but versa works didnt recognise the colour as a colour to cut by.

    Thanks in advance,
    James

Can you not import a DXF into your design software and sort it out from that?

we get files from one of our customer via autocad, and we have found you cannot trust the import process for dxf, typically the stroke does not import at the correct thickness. it is a good starting point for the file but it is worth importing into illustrator or similar and check it within there you could then apply your spot colours etc at the same time.

Thanks for the info guys, i tried importing dxf files into corel and it didnt do a good job at all, only version 11 though, but the layouts seemed to be nudged all over the place. Tried exporting as an eps file that seemed to work ok, if only i could put the spot colours in there it would be ace.
i guess autocad cant do this 🙁

    will look into illustrator

have a merry chrismas guys and a prosperous new year
