derek most vinyl suppliers supply paint mask which is exactly what you need.

I don’t know about other suppliers, but you can only buy it in 50m rolls from Europoint (hence the reason I’m sitting with about 40m left over from a job)

hexis do quite a few types of paint masks for different surfaces. The minimum order is 1metre

the painter does mainly motorcycles so will have a look at hexis as he paints plastic and metal so might need different types and min order sounds OK
