  • Applying vinyl to giant 8ft balloon?

Posted by Peter Dee on 24 November 2009 at 09:47

I’ve been asked to apply some text to a giant round helium balloon 8ft diameter once inflated. Apparently it’s a blend of natural and synthetic latex, much tougher than a standard balloon.
It will be tethered above a premises.
Has anyone tried this before? What vinyl would be best?

Here’s a link to a supplier if anyone is interested

my colleagues once did a hot air balloon, they printed this material which really wasn’t that good on a solvent printer, but they employed the help of a expert who uses 3D software to do the text so they could get the proportions exact due to the scale of it…. we talking over 10 years ago and things change.

cant help u on how to go about that balloon but thought i mention it.

You got your work cut out there. If your good with trigonometry then you should be able to lay out individual paths with ease. Never done a balloon, but given its flexibility, poss looking at banner vinyl, or fly a slag off the tether line :lol1:
