  • Applying vinyl to car bumpers

    Hi all

Ive applied vinyl lettering to a car bumper and noticed it curving at the ends probably too much for my liking..what degree of curvature would be best in the design stage if any..
    thanks

Brian, I think Jon is referring to distortion due to the curvature of the bumper rather than the vinyl not sticking.

Jon, if it’s a one off apply straight by eye. If there’s hundreds of them then draw it curved. The exact amounf of curvature is probably best done by trial and error.

    Thanks for the replies yesterday..
yes it’s a one off. No problems sticking, as John suggested it’s to do the with actual curve of the bumper..I actually cut it straight, but would the curves of the vinyl be against the natural curveature of the bumper or in the same direction..( hope ive explained this ok)

Jon you would better to follow the curve if you can otherwise it has “Transit bonnet syndrom” doesnt matter if its straight it will alwys look off . What i do is make cuts at the bottom of the application tape it gives it a bit more flexability to curve ….or of course just curve it in your software
