  • Applying Gold Chrome (mirror) vinyl to correx

Posted by Billy Lawton on 24 November 2011 at 18:57

    Hi everyone,

Can anyone advise on applying this vinyl (RTape Gold Chrome) – I’ve got a shaped piece 430mm x 350mm to 28 boards – I’ve applied one dry and it’s very difficult not to get bubbles even with the greatest care.

I tried one using soap spray and it went on well but was coming away when removing transfer paper.

Any help would be appreciated – maybe I need to leave them dry for a day before removing transfer paper?

    Thank you

    Billy

Leave them to dry for a couple of hours then spray the app tape to soak it and it should come off easier but don’t use fluid with Isopropyl in as this will make the problem worse.

    Great advice! Thank you.

I have "float-on" or would you recommend good old soap/water spray?

Proper application spray will work better or the one i have used does but water with a little soap is cheaper.

I’ve just finished my first multi-vinyl job on 25 music stands and wanted to thank you for the help & advice you all gave me to get me to this point.

    Brilliant!

Hi John – it is 1250gsm fluted board (not actually Correx board – but very similar).

    Hi Nicola,

That’s the finished job – I cut out the outline in Photoshop and place it on my standard background so it looks nicer on the website.

Otherwise they would see my workshop!! – not pretty most of the time!
    LOL

The client gets a funky proof which I put together in Adobe InDesign & Photoshop from a photo of my iPad (attached)

    Cheers

    Billy
