  • Anyone wrapped a Lotus Exige? Help with Vinyl choice.

Posted by AndyRigby on 16 February 2009 at 13:08

    Another question for the experts.

Had a good chat with Europoint earlier about the correct film to use to wrap the Exige.

Discussed the Oracal 751c and 870 and also an Avery film.

Most area’s on the Exige are curved, but the main recesses are the tail lights (Pictured).

Was hard to explain the recesses on the phone so thought i’d better ask here.

Which would be the best vinyl on such recesses?

    Thanks Andy

most good cast vinyls will cope with that section, but the rest of the vehicle?
cant see it so cant comment.

those indents around the lights are a different story though… would be better to get some samples and give it a go., i personally think it needs peaced in around the lower section of the light, but the top end you will be able to fold in.

    edit-
in fact you may get away with the cast on that part too because you have a decent sized bit to cut away so you could stretch that to fit without any joins..

    Thanks for the advice Rob.

I’ve got various samples coming from the supplier today so i’ll practice on the tail light section. Will try to stretch the vinyl into the recess. Hopefully it’ll work fine with a little practice.

Here is a pic of what an Exige looks like.

I’ve got the added advantage of the clamshells (all body panels) on my workbenches with full access. Hopefully this will make the application easier.

Also spoken to Grafiwrap earlier about supplying a vinyl.

Does anyone have any experience of Grafi without a laminate? They only supply this separately and I don’t have access to a laminator.

    Cheers.

A friend of the family has one of these, but in yellow, and i gather they want it in red, so i immediately thought of 85 Series Oracle??
