Anyone using Shiraz RIP?
Posted by Paul Munford on 3 May 2008 at 21:11Hi all,
Can Shiraz V5.61 be used on an windows XP operating system?
We had it running fine on windows 2000 pro, but would like to install on xp.
Tried everything but it will only start in demo mode.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

quote Dave Rowland:yes, it can…
is the dongle lit up?If it isn’t you can download the hasp driver off the net.

you got it… it should also be in the shiraz folder that it made… i know i had to download it for server 2003

ooeer ..the dongle doesn’t light up?
Although the program has installed ok when you try to start it it automatically goes in to demo mode.
Can you talk me through it step by step.
Which folder exactly would i look in for the hasp driver please.
Cheers

well, when you plugged in the usb dongle does it glow bright red? when its bright red its working and the hasp driver installed.
try unplugging usb dongle and put it back in… let us know if it starts asking for driver disks etc

Dave,
I don’t have a usb dongle with a light on it, the dongle i have fits on to the printer port lpt1 and the parallel printer cable fits in to this.
When starting the prog i get an error message "invalid protection key – starting in demo mode" -
Take the printer out of the dongle. I’ve always been told not to do that. I think Stephanie Peterson had the same problem with Signlab.

Karl,
Tried without printer attached to dongle …still not working ..same error message -
Try reinstalling the software. If that doesn’t work then perhaps the dongle isn’t compatible with xp or the dongle’s damaged. You may be able to down load an update from AIT but they will charge you for it.

Just for the record…in case anyone ever has the same problem.
I downloaded the latest XP hasp 4 drivers from Alladin and installed them, re-started PC …..problem solved.
