Anyone use ‘Sihl’ brand products?
Posted by Martin Kennedy on 23 November 2008 at 22:49Hi All
We are thinking about using Sihl pop-up and canvas material on our Roland Soljet and wondered if anyone has experience with it – good or bad?
We have tried a small sample and the quality seems pretty good.
What are your thoughts?

We use Sihl paper and the poly prop.
I’ve used the canvas in the past and it prints well. My problem is when its stretched on the frames around the corners sometimes it seems to me that the top layer coating which is very thick cracks. I prefer the Fredrix canvas.
I’d love to try the pop up media but our supplier doesn’t stock it. Let me know how you get on with it.

Hi Jason
That was a quick reply – thanks.
Are Sihl products popular / well regarded in Oz? They are pretty new to the market here so it’s hard to get any recommendations.Martin

I’m not too sure how well regarded they are here. I don’t know many other people using their products. But we’ve been using them ever since we have been in business and we haven’t had a problem with their products in terms of printing and durability.
I find their polyprop to be a good product, nice scratch resistance and a nice print.
A competitor to their canvas once told me that their canvas is actually the same water based stock they use that’s why it has a thicker coating. I’m no expert so I don’t know if that’s true or not but its the only reason I stopped using it.
If you get a sample of the popup material and print it let me know how it goes.

Hi all
I posted this late last night so many may have missed it. Just trying to find out about SIHL brand products and what people think of these if in use.
Many thanks
