  • Anyone know which Adhesive for plastic locator to acm

Posted by Jonathan Wallace on 7 December 2010 at 15:05

I have been trying to bond a plastic locator’s to a letter made from brushed alli finish aluminum composite material. I have been using Q Bond with the metal to metal powder. However it is not sticking as well as should be. I have tried it with both smooth and then roughing up the area but still not working. Any advice would be helpful.

Not sure if you will find anything suitable but worth a look here.

I use a couple of their adhesives and they are pretty good.

    Hi Peter,

Normally its a 2 part adhesive but make sure it cures together at a low temperature, if not it will soften the PU middle and you will get pot marks where the adhesive is showing through the sheet,

    Hope that helps.

We’ve used double sided 3m tape punched out with a circular metal punch before with no problems

I must stress however that this has been with the snapfix jumbo locators which have a decent size footprint compared to some others and the letters have been just flat cut (not built up’s) at an average size of no more than 400 mm high
