  • Anyone know how to do small embossed plaques

    Hi Everyone

    Thank God its Friday…..

I have to quote for a customer who does fencing panels.

He would like to place his details on the panels, in some form of a plaque.

Originally he thought of engraving, but I think it might work out too much for him.

We have an old fly press, so I though about getting the blanks and pressing them, I think that’s how they do it in the first place to be honest…

Anyone have any comments on how to do it?

The guy wants 3000 units so worth while spending an hour looking into it.

    Thank you.

    Nearly wine o`clock !!! 😀

You’d need to get a stamping die made for embossing the blanks, not a problem getting it made but it may cost more than your happy paying.

Basically you need a bottom to locate the blank and then the top had to be attached to the bottom section with guides to make sure it lines up.
your fly press will then press the top down onto the blank.

A bit like when you go to a museum and your kids get to hit the stamp onto a bit of metal to make a replica coin.

We do aluminium asset and bar code plates and now and again get requests from fencing and garden furniture manufacturers who are looking to pay pennies….
It is done with a male and female die (costly) and you obviously also need to have the blanks (round or oval) plus holes to nail them to the wood.
Needs to be stamped out on an automatic machine, i think, for an economical price. I once had a company in Birmingham who were set up to do this.
Hard work if you do them one by one on a press.

Hi Denise, a lot of hard work for very little money in my experience.
Fence panel makers only want to pay pennies for that sort of thing.
You could try Leeds Engraving Co Ltd. They don’t advertise that they do that sort of thing but I have had embossed labels from them in the past.

    Thanks Chaps

I will try the other companies mentioned, as I have yet to get a quote from my first supplier…
