Hiya,
I had the below site/vinyl recommended to me before… I may be able to dig out the post for you and see if there’s any further information 🙂 Anyway here’s the linke…Hope it’s of some use!?

It needs to be a specific vinyl for curtain siders as they are under mechanical tension. As you’re in SA I would contact your vinyl suppliers and ask them for help.

If you search for ‘curtain siders’ there’s quite a lot of information that comes up that I reckon will be useful to you 😀

Any banner vinyl is up for the job as long as the truck side is cleaned degreased properly first. DON’T and I emphasis DON’T use meths. It will stain a nice pinky colour!!
A bit of heat over the vinyl and a rub over with a yellow duster will seal it good and proper.
There is ‘truck’ vinyl available but its just glorified banner vinyl.

I have been reading through some of the above as we have never done any lorry curtains, all good info.
However, our customer existing print or graphics on his curtians, would anyone know the best way to remove or cover the graphics, or would it be a case of having to get new curtains?

I wasn’t going to post anything as this comment is a number of months old but as the thread has been brought up again – having worked on curtains with both ink and vinyl if you follow that advice you are more that likely going to end up with an expensive redo – banner vinyl is designed for banners, truck vinyl is designed for trucks and the composition of the materials is different.
I’ve seen far to many failures over the years to let that one slide and if it saves one person from going through the pain and embarrassment of a redo it’s a job well done

Go with new curtains Nigel – if you take pictures of the buckles and straps (there are some 60+ variation) and send that info along with the size of curtain to the curtain manufacture they will do the rest. The company I used to be subbed out to, to signwrite their curtains was Structureflex but there are plenty of others out there.

Totally agree with this…
Have to add, applying truck vinyl is nowhere near as easy as banner grade vinyl. the adhesion is very agressive and the vinyl thinner. at least feels thinner… -

Cheers Craig, Rob, did you get the new curtains and just ad the graphics yourself or just sub the whole job out?
WE only have a small workshop so this could be tricky ad probably have to do it on the floor which sounds like it may have its problems.

The curtains are fairly cheap if bought in complete / printed. The curtain sided material is not particularly cheap and as Rob has said is tricky to apply. If possible go with subbing the whole job!
A few years ago we did one big printed panel on one side of a curtain sider, if we had done both sides the guy could have new curtains for the same cost! Was a massive hurry for the job though so just went with it. (it actually took a hell of a lot longer to apply that I had given, not a money spinner!)

Cheers Gav,
I thought as much thanks for that, will sub it all out this time and give it a go when we have more time and space.
